Champions League – Matchday 3 Tips

Arsenal host Bayern Munich on Tuesday in a must win Group F game – we preview this and all the televised Champions League games featuring Premier League sides.

Arsenal’s Champions League challenge is pointless – that’s a fact; they have no points after two group games and now face one of the best teams in the world, with the most in-form striker in European football in Robert Lewandowski.

No wonder you can get 14/5 with Bet365 on the Gunners – but given that Arsene Wenger’s side simply have to collect all three points to salvage their Champions League hopes this season, perhaps that price is too big for a home team sitting second in the Premier League.

Given the number of first rate goal-scorers in this game, many will be looking closely at the Over 2.5 Goals option at odds of 8/11, but we feel that the smarter play is to back Under 2.5 Goals at a best price of 5/4 with Paddy Power – the last three games between these clubs have all seen less than three goals (1-1 and 0-2 in 2013/14).

Chelsea are 3rd in Group G after two games having lost in Porto last month and face leaders Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday. Given Jose Mourinho’s side have won only one of their five Premier/Champions League games on the road so far this season, there is no reason to back them to win here at best odds of just 9/5 with Paddy Power.

The draw is surely a better bet at 12/5 with Bet365 – especially as Dynamo also drew their first group game here (2-2) with Porto last month.

On the same basis, we’ll also recommend backing a 1-1 scoreline at odds of 5/1 with Bet365, who refund losing Correct Score bets on all games that finish 0-0.

CSKA Moscow v Manchester United

United recorded a much needed victory against Wolfsburg in their last Group B game at home, but they face a really difficult looking task here in Moscow.

CSKA are already five points clear in the Russian Premier League and we think they are worth backing at 19/10 with Bet365 to hand United their second defeat of this campaign – with Louis Van Gaal’s side having already lost 2-1 in Eindhoven to PSV.

Seydou Doumbia has scored seven goals in his last seven appearances – two in the Champions League – and we suggest backing him at a generous 7/1 with Coral to score first and at 11/5 with Bet365 to score at any time.

Manchester City v Sevilla

City are strong favourites at the Etihad at best odds of 4/6 with Bet365, but Sevilla did manage to beat Barcelona 2-1 earlier this month and could trouble a side who have still to prove themselves in this competition.

Juventus won here 2-1 in September, while last season CSKA Moscow also won 2-1 at the Etihad in the group stages.

Both sides have won and lost so far in Group D and given our lingering distrust of City in this competition, we are going to recommend taking a punt on the visitors at a juicy looking price of 9/2 with Bet365.

Those looking for a Sevilla player to open the scoring could do worse than backing their joint top scorer this season Kevin Gameiro at 17/2 with Unibet (7/1 elsewhere).
