Bet365 are still offering to refund all losing Outright Winner bets on Euro 2016 for teams eliminated on penalties (available until the Final kicks off on Sun 10th July).
There were two penalty shoot-outs at both Euro 2008 and Euro 2012, from the seven knock-out games at each, and with a Round of 16 this time around, we can reasonably expect 3 or 4 shoot-outs from the 15 knock-out games at Euro 2016.
Indeed, there were four penalty shoot-outs in Brazil two years ago at the World Cup, where there is always a Last 16, and there was also four at World Cup 2006.
So, whoever you think will lift the trophy in France, you can place your bet safe in the knowledge that you won’t be suffering any penalty heartache – a decent saver given that we anticipate three or four of the last 16 teams will endure that fate.
Looking at the Last 16 draw, we can reasonably expect that this will include at least one or two of the remaining favourites – including England of course, who have been knocked out of three of their last four European Championships (1996, 2004 & 2012) on penalties, in addition to the World Cup in both 1990 and 2006.
So, if you are still considering a Euro 2016 winner bet (or bets) at this stage, do so with Bet365 with that refund if your team (or teams) suffer England’s usual fate.
