Lewis Hamilton remains the favourite for the 2016 Formula 1 World Championship despite losing the lead in the standings to Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg after Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix.
Hamilton, who had a troubled weekend and qualified 0.7 seconds slower than Rosberg, could only finish in third place as the German held off a late challenge from Daniel Ricciardo to claim victory.
With eight wins to Hamilton’s six in this year’s championship, Rosberg now holds an 8 point advantage, yet he is still the 5/4 second favourite in the F1 title betting.
Hamilton, looking for his third consecutive title, remains the odds-on favourite.
The last six races of the season take place in Malaysia, Japan, the US, Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi and all six produced a Mercedes one-two last season, with Rosberg accruing 126 points compared to 122 for his rival.
However, in Hamilton’s favour, he has accumulated 10 career wins at those six Grand Prix compared to only four for Rosberg. It all adds up to a fascinating finale.
