We find it slightly surprising that France are favourites in the second Euro 2016 Semi-Final on Thursday, despite them enjoying home advantage in Marseille.

They are best price 9/5 with Bet365, who offer both Germany and the draw at 2/1.

Germany beat France 1-0 at the Maracana in the World Cup Quarter-Final’s two years ago and while the World Champions haven’t looked at their best so far this tournament, they have yet to concede a goal in open play in their five matches.

While the French put five past Iceland, they also conceded twice and that could easily have been more, while the Irish also led at half-time in their Last 16 game.

That 1-0 victory in Brazil preempted Germany’s extraordinary 7-1 Semi-Final win over the hosts as, once again, they clicked into gear at just the right time.

Of course, there will be no such result at the Stade Velodrome, but we suggest taking the 2/1 with Bet365, plus 19/20 on them ‘to qualify’ (inc extra-time or pens).

We also recommend backing another 1-0 Germany win at 13/2 and the 1-1 at 5/1 with Bet365, as they refund losing Correct Score bets on all games that end 0-0.

Finally, with Thomas Muller playing centrally in the absence of the injured Mario Gomez, he can break his Euro’s duck and score at a stand-out 5/2 with Betfair.
