England travel to the Juventus Stadium in Turin to play Italy in a friendly that is sure to be played in a competitive manner given the history between the two nations.

Some Italians are not happy with their coach Antonio Conte – he has even received death threats ahead of this game – with Juve fans feeling he has not helped their domestic cause by ‘getting’ Claudio Marchisio unnecessarily injured. This has maybe helped Italy be a little bigger in the betting than they may have been (due to the feeling there is discontent in the Italian camp).

The Azzurri can be backed at best odds of 17/10 with Bet365, while England are available at 21/10 with Ladbrokes and the draw at 9/4 with Betfred.

Italy broke English players, and fans, hearts in Brazil beating them 2-1, and England have actually only beaten Italy twice in their last twelve meetings. We feel the home side are overpriced here at that 17/10 – and we also suggest that big hitters consider backing them in the ‘Draw No Bet’ market at 4/5 with Bet365.

Some significant England players who played on Friday in the 4-0 win over Lithuania will be missing for this friendly – Danny Wellbeck, who was voted Man of the Match, does not play and neither do Leighton Baines, Raheem Sterling or James Milner.

But captain Wayne Rooney should start. We tipped him at 10/3 to score the first goal at Wembley and we don’t see any reason why not to do so again. William Hill offer 6/1 on him scoring first – and they refund losing First Goalscorer bets if your player scores the second goal of the match instead.

We also suggest backing Southampton’s Graziano Pelle at 7/1 to score first with Bet365 – he scored on his only start for Italy and will relish taking on the English defenders. Back him each-way with Bet365 who offer 1/3 odds for the ‘place’ in this market – if your player scores at any time in the game.

Harry Kane scored 79 seconds into his full International debut with only his third touch of the game; but we feel he is under-priced to score first, even at best odds of 7/1 with Bet365 (as short as 9/2 elsewhere). It’s one thing to come off the bench against a side struggling to cope with a superior side and quite another to start against one of the best teams in Europe on their manor.

If you disagree, Sky Bet are offering odds of 79/1 on the Tottenham striker scoring within 79 seconds again on Tuesday, while Coral are offering odds of 33/1 that he proceeds to be the all-time England scoring record holder!

Five of the last 11 Italy vs England games ended 2-1 – four of those to Italy – and so we suggest backing the 2-1 Italy win again here, as well as the 1-0 home win – both with Betfred who offer to refund losing Correct Score bets on all televised matches that finish 1-1.
