After a slow start under new boss Chris Wilder, Sheffield United are beginning to show why they were rated such strong title favourites at the beginning of the campaign.
On Saturday they came from behind with only 10 men to earn a point at leaders Scunthorpe and continue their upward momentum. Since taking only a single point from their first four games the Blades, who are back in to 11/2 for the title, have won four of their last five and are now showing signs of adapting to their new manager’s ways.
Wilder, of course, led Northampton’s romp to the League 2 crown last season, with the Cobblers collecting 99 points.
Ahead of the midweek fixtures the top two are Scunthorpe and Bury, who meet at Gigg Lane this weekend. Bury could be backed at odds of 80/1 a few weeks ago but their 2-1 win over Chesterfield on Saturday was their fourth in a row.
The Shakers are now available at 22/1 with Paddy Power, with the Irish bookmakers perhaps not taking them as seriously as they ought to (as short as 14/1 elsewhere).
