Man City Cut After Securing Silva Deal

Premier-League-OddsSky Bet have cut Manchester City to 2/1 favourites for next season’s Premier League title after they became the first of the big clubs to signal their intentions in the transfer market.

Pep Guardiola’s side could be backed at 11/4 with Stan James a fortnight ago, but are now a best price of 9/4 with BetVictor after spending £43m to bring Monaco playmaker Bernardo Silva to the Etihad. Silva is seen as the heir to his namesake David Silva, while he could be joined at his new club by fellow Monaco stars Benjamin Mendy and Fabinho – with a deal for left back Mendy believed to be the furthest advanced.

With Benfica goalkeeper Ederson and Tottenham right back Kyle Walker also looking destined to join Guardiola’s squad – the Man City manager may well have addressed the weaknesses that hampered his first season in England.
