City are 2/1 outsiders (generally) to win this semi-final first leg, with Real Madrid available at best odds of 6/4 with Betfred and the draw at 13/5 with Sky Bet.

However, Betfair are offering enhanced odds of 7/1 on Real or 10/1 on City here.

Manuel Pellegrini faces the club that sacked him in 2010 after just one season in charge (they were knocked out of the Champions League in the Round of 16).

Since then, Real have reached the semi-final every season – this is their sixth consecutive year – but they have only reached the final once in the previous five.

Last season they were knocked out by Juve (2-1 away, and 1-1 at home), despite Ronaldo scoring in both legs, and City are 2/1 with Bet365 ‘to qualify’ for the final.

Ronaldo has scored 7 goals in his 10 Champions League semi-final appearances over those past five seasons and is 21/20 with Stan James to score on Tuesday.

Sergio Aguero has never been on a winning side against Real (D3, L8), mostly at Athletico Madrid but also when these sides met in the 2012/13 group stages.

Back then Real, managed by Jose Mourinho, won the home game 3-2 and drew 1-1 here at the Etihad Stadium, although Aguero scored a penalty in the latter.

The Argentinian can be backed at 4/1 to score the first goal with Bet365, who are offering all customers a risk free In-Play bet – if they place a pre-match bet.

Given the firepower available to both sides, we also strongly recommend backing both teams to score again at a stand-out price of 4/7 with Stan James.

Finally, we suggest backing both teams to win 2-1 with BetVictor, who are offering the best odds on both scorelines.
