Matsuyama 12/1 for US PGA Championship

Hideki Matsuyama looked unstoppable for a while at the turn of the year and the Japanese star came back to life with a bang at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, with a stunning final round of 61 at Firestone Country Club on Sunday giving him a five-shot victory over Zach Johnson.

Matsuyama won five times in just nine starts between October and early February – and also finished second twice in that spell – before his form cooled in the spring.

However, the World no.3 looked back to his spectacular best at Firestone and his price for this week’s US PGA Championship has tumbled, from 20/1 to a best of 12/1 with Paddy Power & Betfair – both of whom are offering 8 places for each-way bets.

Charley Hoffman also caught the eye last week, finishing in third place, and the World no.20 has been cut from 125/1 to 55/1 with Betfair for the year’s final major.
