Barcelona are beginning the search for a new manager after Luis Enrique’s decision to step down at the end of the season, and a fluid market currently features three Premier League bosses in the top five in the Next Barcelona Manager betting.
Three of Barca’s last four managers had played for the club and the current market leader is the Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde – a player at Camp Nou in the late 1980s.
Jorge Sampaoli, who is making a big impression at Sevilla, is also among the frontrunners before the trio of English-based coaches – Arsene Wenger, who may be available in the summer if he opts against renewing his contract with Arsenal, plus Ronald Koeman and Mauricio Pochettino.
Koeman is, of course, a former Barca player of some standing – but Pochettino is well-known in the city too having played for and managed Espanyol with distinction.
The work the Argentine has done at Southampton and then Tottenham makes him an ideal candidate and he can be backed at enticing odds of 11/1 with Paddy Power.
