The PGA Tour stops off in Mexico this week for the OHL Classic 2016. El Camaleon Golf Club at the Mayakoba resort in Playa del Carmen will present players with a variety of challenges as it winds between three distinct landscapes of tropical jungle, dense mangroves and oceanfront stretches. Last year, Graeme McDowell beat Jason Bohn and Russell Knox to win in a play-off, with other former champions including Charley Hoffman and Harris English, who set a course record total of 21-under-par.

Following his near miss last year, Knox is the market leader for this edition at a best price of 16/1 with Betfred. The Scottish star – who has long since made his home in the States – won both the HSBC Champions event and the Travelers Championship last season. Emiliano Grillo continues to impress and is at 20/1 with several firms, as is Jon Rahm, who was 10th here last year. Harris English, who finished in tied-4th at last week’s PGA event in Las Vegas with 4 rounds of 67, is best price 35/1 at Betfair.

Graeme-McDowellGRAEME MCDOWELL has played well at his last two European Tour events and will be feeling good ahead of his title defence in Mexico, where he is a generous best price of 45/1 with Betfred. The 37-year-old is a serial winner, with 14 professional victories to his name, and must be taken seriously after finishing in the top 5 at the British Masters last month, a performance which followed on from a share of 15th at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

charles_howellCHARLES HOWELL has a solid record here at Mayakoba and after finishing 15th at the Shriners Hospitals event, where he hit three successive rounds of 67, he is worthy of consideration this week. Howell missed the cut here in 2014, but he was 6th a year earlier and his three other appearances in the last five seasons have all seen him finish in the top 20. He can be backed at best price 66/1 with Paddy Power – who are offering 6 places for each-way bets.

Jason-Bohn-GolfJASON BOHN hasn’t made the best of starts to the new season, but he performed better at the Shriners Hospitals tournament and he’s hard to ignore at a three figure price back at a venue where he has performed so admirably in the recent past. Bohn has finished third, seventh and second on his last three visits to Mayakoba and with happy memories like that he should be able to shrug off his poor recent form at odds of 100/1 with Betfred.
