Sergio Garcia is the clear favourite as the Open de Espana returns to El Prat after four years, but it’s a title he hasn’t won since 2002 and there’s no reason to back him at 11/2. Thomas Aiken was the last winner here and he’s a 28/1 shot, but it may be better to look towards the in-form tour players such as David Howell, currently 13th in the Race to Dubai. The former Ryder Cup star was 4th and 2nd on his last two appearances and can be backed at 40/1 with BetVictor despite being 25s in places.

Alex Noren missed most of 2014 through injury but he has been solid since returning to the tour this year, making the cut at all eight events and enjoying a purple patch in January and February in which he posted results of 2-9-11. He has maintained his consistency since then and will be looking to get back among the contenders again this week. BetVictor, Paddy Power and William Hill all go 40/1.

Victor Dubuisson hasn’t been enjoying the best of seasons, having tried his luck a few times in the States without much success, but he’s back in Europe this week and Coral appear to have forgotten that the Frenchman is a winning Ryder Cup player from last September. The powerful hitter has had some good results on the European Tour since then, including a share of fourth in Abu Dhabi in January, and he should not be as big as 40/1. Several firms have him at 25s and that looks closer to the mark.
