Champions Leicester City are now just 15/8 with Bet365 to be relegated after being beaten 2-0 by fellow strugglers Swansea on Sunday – a fifth consecutive Premier League defeat for the Foxes, which leaves them just one point above the drop zone and increasingly cut off from the teams in mid-table.
Claudio Ranieri’s side have now gone over 10 hours without a league goal – the only team in the top four English divisions not to score in 2017 – and they could even be bottom of the table by the time they play Liverpool at the end of the month, with all three of the teams below them in action beforehand.
It’s all a far cry from the summer, when Leicester were available at odds of 40/1 with Bet365 for relegation – while we highlighted them at 30/1 back in early November.
Indeed the Foxes were still available at 16/1 for the drop as recently as January 14th.
It wouldn’t be anything like as dramatic as their 5000/1 title success, of course, but it would be yet another remarkable turn of events in the club’s recent history.
