Royal Ascot 2016 – Saturday Tips

Feature race on the final day of Royal Ascot 2016 is the Diamond Jubilee Stakes – we have tips for all six races on Saturday.

Chesham Stakes     CH4

All eyes in the Chesham Stakes will be on the two Frankel colts, Frankuus and CUNCO, both of whom won on their debuts. Another of Frankel’s offspring, Queen Kindly, ran a big race here yesterday and we fancy Cunco to give the sport’s most in demand new stallion his first success at this big meeting.

He should be well suited by the step up to 7f here and with the ground drying out there should be no excuses on that front.

Of those at bigger prices, ADMIRALTY ARCH could be the pick as he needed every yard of the 6f to get his head in front on his last start. He is bred to need further than even this 7f in time, but this is a stiff test for two year olds and he should see out the trip better than most.

Sky Bet are offering money back, as a free bet, on the Chesham – if your horse finishes second to the SP favourite (Churchill).

Wolferton Handicap     CH4

Godolphin have a strong hand in the Wolferton and BEST OF TIMES should take all the beating after a really encouraging re-appearance at Chester last time out where he met all sorts of trouble in running. This is more his trip anyway and he should take all the beating.

Bottom weight WHAT ABOUT CARLO could be the best of those at double figure prices as trip and ground are perfect for him. His yard is back in form now too and he looked back to something like his best at Epsom recently.

Hardwicke Stakes     CH4

The Hardwicke Stakes is dominated by two Sir Michael Stoute runners and his slightly more fancied contender, EXOSPHERE, should be hard to beat as he looks just the type of horse his excellent trainer excels with.

The each way value could be the lightly raced ALMODOVAR who is improving at a rapid rate of knots for David Lanigan. He looked better than ever on his comeback recently – his first outing since being gelded in the winter.

Diamond Jubilee Stakes     CH4

The first of two big sprints over 6f is the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes and here THE TIN MAN looks to have outstanding claims. He was fourth in a Group 1 over course and distance last October and showed he had trained on well when cruising home at Windsor on his return.

James Fanshawe has a great record with top class sprinters and this horse looks set to go to the very top.

Wokingham Stakes     CH4

The day’s big betting race is the Wokingham Stakes and given his Midas touch with sprinters it makes sense to back both of Robert Cowell’s runners, OUTBACK TRAVELLER and TOOFI.

Outback Traveller stays 7f, which is never a bad thing in these fast run handicaps over 6f.

Toofi has recently joint Cowell and had a run over 5f recently to blow away the cobwebs.

At a bigger price NINJAGO is also worth an interest as he too has switched stables recently and may improve for the change of scenery. He already has a decent record in these big field handicaps.

Queen Alexandra Stakes      CH4

The stayers take centre stage in the meeting’s final race, the Queen Alexandra Stakes, and we can’t resist having a few quid on THE MINCH here. He went into many notebooks with an amazing performance on his debut in a hot bumper at the Grand National meeting and ran well on his flat debut 4 weeks ago.

SANDRO BOTTICELLI is the other one to be on, with Frankie Dettori an eye-catching jockey booking.
