The RSM Classic, previously known as the McGladrey Classic, has been on the PGA Tour schedule since 2010 and is played at the Sea Island Resort in St Simons Island, Georgia. The par 70 layout, which was first opened in 1929, measures in at a touch over 7,000 yards and features mature trees, several water hazards and large areas of boggy marshland. The winning score is usually in the region of 14 to 16 below par, but Kevin Kisner blitzed the course to win by six shots last year with a record total of 20-under. Other previous winners include Robert Streb and Chris Kirk.

The betting looks wide open for this event, with 2014 winner Kirk the market leader at 18/1 with Paddy Power, who are offering 7 places for all each-way bets. St Simons Island resident Matt Kuchar is available at best odds of 22/1 with Sportingbet, while Brandt Snedeker, who was so impressive at the Ryder Cup, is a stand-out 25/1 with BetVictor. Zach Johnson, another local, at available at best odds of 40/1 at Sky Bet.

Kevin-Chappell-GolferKEVIN CHAPPELL has been getting better year on year here and can spark his season into life with another strong performance at Sea Island Resort. Chappell was Kisner’s nearest challenger last year, edging out Graeme McDowell for second place, after finishing 8th a year earlier and 32nd on his debut at this event. That second here was one of 4 runner-up finishes last season and the world no. 28 player looks a strong contender at 28/1.

russell-henleyRUSSELL HENLEY missed the cut on his first appearance of the season, but he has since finished in the top 25 at two events and he looks ready to mount a serious challenge at a venue which clearly suits his game. Since graduating from the Tour, Henley has played this tournament twice, finishing 4th and 6th, including being only two shots off the pace in 2014. Back him at best odds of 30/1 available at Bet365Betfred and Stan James.

Chris-KirkCHRIS KIRK has made a fine start to the new season, chalking up back-to-back top 10s at the Safeway Open and Sanderson Farm Championship, while he was involved near the top of the leaderboard once again in Mexico at the weekend, sharing 7th with our tip Charles Howell at Mayakoba. The 2014 champion also has a top four finish and two top 20s to his name in six visits to Sea Island and merits being the market leader here.
