The 2014 Russian Grand Prix was something less than enthralling as Lewis Hamilton led from start to finish in an uneventful race, and judging by the weather on Friday there is every chance this season could be another damp squib. But that doesn’t mean we can’t try to profit from what looks to be a reasonably predictable race.

The layout of the Sochi course plays into the hands of the more powerful Mercedes engine, and while that’s likely to mean another 1-2 for the works team, we’ll resist tipping them up for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the weather forecasts are not perfect and could see some rain upsetting things through the weekend, while the tyre choice for the weekend matches those faced by the teams in Singapore, where Mercedes really struggled to make the rubber work for them. It’s unlikely they will see the same issues given just how different Singapore is to everywhere else, but with prices short, we’ll err on the side of caution.

Williams, Lotus and Force India are our targets then, and we reckon Force India could be the guys to side with this weekend in the Top 6 and points markets. In the seven races since Austria, Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenburg have managed four Top 6 finishes and a further three 7th places, in 13 races between them.

At 7/2 each, they looks decent value to finish in the top 6 on a track which should suit them, while nine top 10 finishes in those 13 starts between them persuade us to get involved in quotes of 8/11 and 8/13 respectively for points finishes.
