Saturday Horse Racing Tips

There’s outstanding action both sides of the English Channel this weekend, with the Arc meeting starting at its temporary home of Chantilly and top class contests being staged here at Newmarket, Ascot and Redcar.

Prix du Cadran     ATR

Most of the best races in France take place tomorrow, but the Prix du Cadran is always a highlight of the fixture and we hope to kick off with a big price winner courtesy of TRIP TO RHODES. He looks over priced based on his efforts in this race in previous years and he’s run well in his recent warm up races.

Prix Daniel Wildenstein     ATR

The other horse to back at Chantilly today is MOONLIGHT MAGIC in the Prix Daniel Wildenstein. He ran a cracker in the Irish Champion Stakes last time out and may just be suited by this drop in trip. Don’t forget, he was unbeaten as a top class two year old last season.

totepool Two-Year-Old Trophy Stakes     CH4

Redcar’s feature is the Two Year Old Trophy and Richard Hannon Jnr has a big chance to follow up his success in the race last season with REPTON.

The drop back to six furlongs should bring about some improvement as should the return to quicker ground.

The biggest dangers look to be MAZYOUN and Medici Banchiere, and with his yard in such good form narrow preference is for the former, despite him still being a maiden. First time blinkers could see him get his head in front for the first time here.

Sky Bet are offering 5 places for each-way bets on this race.

totescoop6 Challenge Cup Heritage Handicap     CH4

The day’s big betting heat is the Challenge Cup at Ascot where lots of old favourites re-appear. There is plenty of rain forecast and any further give in the ground should suit REMARKABLE. He has been gelded since his last race, which should remove some of his quirks and John Gosden does so well with this type of horse.

There are dangers a plenty.

Lightly raced Afjaan and Squats look to be two of them, but they may not want too much rain. LIBRISA BREEZE, by contrast, would relish any softening of the ground and still looks to be on the upgrade judging by his effort in a Group race last time.

Ascot And Camra 10th Anniversary Rous Stakes     CH4

The Listed Sprint that follows could go the way of PRICELESS. Clive Cox is a fine handler of sprinters and this filly had a confidence boosting win last time out. Any rain should suit.

The evergreen performers Medicean Man and Sole Power could give our selection most to do.

John Guest Bengough Stakes     CH4

Superstar two year old Shalaa returns from injury in the Group 3 race over 6f at 3.05 and he looks plenty short enough in the market for a race designed to put him spot on for some big targets later in the autumn.

That means there is value elsewhere and we would suggest backing both RAUCOUS and MEHRONISSA each way.

Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes     CH4

Finally, the Sun Chariot is the big race at Newmarket and we are going to take on hot favourite Alice Springs with VOLTA and ERVEDYA. Back both French raiders to win. They are hard to separate, but we expect one of them to come out on top.
