The first knockout game of Euro 2016 looks a difficult one to call, but the Poles are slight favourites with the bookmakers at 17/10 (generally), while the Swiss can be backed at best odds of 9/4 with Bet365 and the draw at 2/1 with Betfred.

Poland finished as runners-up in Group C without conceding a goal – with wins against Northern Ireland and Ukraine (both 1-0) and a 0-0 draw with Germany.

Switzerland were also unbeaten in Group A, finishing second to France, with a 1-0 win over Albania, a 1-1 draw with Romania and a 0-0 draw with the hosts.

Everything points to a low scoring game in Saint-Etienne, reflected by odds of just 2/5 (generally) on Under 2.5 Goals, and we prefer backing both 1-0 scorelines with Bet365, as they refund losing Correct Score bets on all matches that finish 0-0.

We correctly tipped a 0-0 half-time scoreline in both the Rep of Ireland v Italy and England v Slovakia games this week and we’ll go for that again at 6/5 with Bet365.

Finally, let’s bet on one player from each team to score first and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski simply has to be backed at Coral’s 5/1 (just 7/2 elsewhere).

For the Swiss we’ll go for highly rated 19-year-old Breel Embolo, reported to be on his way from Basel to Schalke for £15million in the summer, at 8/1 with Bet365.
