Venue

Old White TPC in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, has staged all five previous editions of this event, which replaced the Buick Invitational on the PGA Tour in 2010. It’s a lengthy par 70 at 7,287 yards, but perhaps not the toughest – Stuart Appleby shot a 59 on his way to victory in the inaugural edition. Scott Stallings, Ted Potter Jr, Jonas Blixt and Angel Cabrera are the other previous winners here.

Favourites

Fresh from his victory at the Travelers Championship, where he edged out our 50/1 tip Paul Casey in a play-off, Bubba Watson is the favourite for this event at best odds of 12/1 with Coral. His huge length off the tee should make this layout feel much shorter than it is. The in-form Casey is also among the market leaders, with Coral once again offering the top price of 28/1. Other strong challenges are predicted from the likes of Webb Simpson, Keegan Bradley, JB Holmes and Louis Oosthuizen.

Tips

458343577MM074_Valero_TexasSTEVEN BOWDITCH couldn’t get his game together in the early part of the year but he has come on strong in recent weeks, with his stand-out performance being a victory at the Byron Nelson Championship. He was back in the top 20 at the Travelers Championship at the weekend and currently lies 17th in the FedEx Cup standings. The Australian, who was the runner-up at this event two years ago, looks a decent each-way pick at 90/1 with Coral.

David LingmerthDAVID LINGMERTH‘s win at the recent Memorial Tournament came completely out of the blue, but it will have taken the pressure off the Swede with regards to retaining his playing privileges for next season. After finishing ninth and 16th on his two previous appearances at Old White, he may be able to spring another surprise this week. He certainly looks a big price at best odds of 100/1 with BetVictor or Coral (66/1 elsewhere).

Webb SimpsonWEBB SIMPSON has been fairly consistent this season – he has missed only two cuts, and his four top 10 finishes are evidence that he remains competitive. He has placed in the top 10 here at the Greenbrier in three of the last four years, including finishing third last year. As we mentioned, he is among the favourites, but Betfred are offering a tempting 30/1 and that looks good each-way value (20/1 elsewhere).
