Troubled May 7/4 To Go Before New Year

Ladbrokes and Coral go 7/4 that Theresa May fails to see out 2017 as Prime Minister following her disastrous speech at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester last week.

With Brexit negotiations stalling and memories of the General Election still fresh, the knives are out for May, with former Tory chairman Grant Shapps announcing on Friday that he has a list of 30 MPs who wish to see the PM replaced.

Both bookies offer 2/1 on her leaving her post in 2018 or 3/1 in 2019 – the year the UK is due to leave the European Union. She’s now 6/1 to make it to 2020, such is her weakened state.

Champion schemer Boris Johnson is the 9/2 favourite with William Hill to be May’s successor, with David Davis the 6/1 second favourite and Jacob Rees-Mogg at 8/1 with Bet365. Current Home Secretary Amber Rudd is also at 8/1 with Betfred, with Chancellor Phillip Hammond a 14/1 chance with several firms.
