Matt Jones has been playing some outstanding golf in recent months and caught the eye as he finished third at last week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational – he placed seventh and 14th on his two appearances in February. The Australian hasn’t truly made his mark at San Antonio, but he has made the cut on four of his five visits and his keen form makes Paddy Power‘s quote of 55/1 look generous – especially as they are paying 6 places for each-way bets on the Valero Texas Open.

Brendan Steele’s form since the turn of the year has been strong and even though he finished 35th at the Arnold Palmer event he at least extended his run of playing at the weekend at every tournament since last summer’s Open. He hasn’t made much of an impression on his last two appearances here, but he was the champion in 2011 and finished fourth a year later. At 50/1 with Stan James he looks particularly good each-way value.

We picked out Kevin Na as a value choice last week and he narrowly missed out on a top five place in Florida. We’re going to stick with him as he looks to continue his upsurge in form and build on last year’s 11th place at this tournament. Betfred and Coral are both offering 40/1.
