Villarreal’s season petered out last year, with just two wins in their last 12 league games, and this season is following a similar pattern with two wins in their last 9.

El Submarino Amarillo (the Yellow Submarine) drew 0-0 for the fifth time in their last 16 La Liga games at the weekend, while Liverpool drew with Newcastle, and another stalemate on Thursday wouldn’t be the biggest surprise in the world.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have drawn 7 of 12 Europa League games this season and we suggest backing another at 23/10, with a saver on the 1-0 Liverpool win at 7/1 with Bet365 – who refund losing Correct Score bets on all games that finish 0-0

Villarreal have only scored one goal in their last three La Liga games, while striker Roberto Soldado has just one goal in his last 11 games and is out of form.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have failed to score more than one goal in any of their away games in this season’s competition (1-1, 1-0, 0-0, 0-0, 1-1, 1-1).

Taking both of these factors into account, we strongly recommend backing Under 2.5 Goals here at 3/5 with Bet365 – with European semi-final first legs often being cagey affairs (as witnessed in the two Champions League semi’s this week).

We’ll finish by suggesting backing No Goalscorer at 15/2 with Sky Bet – a bet that also wins if the game finishes 1-0 or 0-1 courtesy of an own goal. Given that 0-0 is best price 7/1, our bet offers a little value with a low scoring game anticipated.
