Warrington began the Super League XXII season as 7/2 second favourites for the title, but a calamitous opening to their campaign has seen them pushed out to a best price of 33/1 with the tournament sponsors Betfred.
The Wolves won the League Leaders’ Shield in 2016 and lost a tight Grand Final 12-6 to Wigan at Old Trafford, and big things were expected of them once again this year.
However, despite only a small turnover of personnel over the winter and only a handful of injuries, they have started the season with six straight defeats – the latest a comprehensive derby beating at St Helens on Friday.
Wigan remain the favourites to win the Grand Final later in the year at best odds of 2/1 with Betfred, while the early leaders Castleford are second in the betting at 12/5 after maintaining their strong start with a big win over Catalans Dragons on Sunday.
The Tigers have never won the league title, either before or after Super League, and have never finished higher than when they were fourth in 2014.
