Wednesday Champions League Tips

Our snapshot previews of the three Champions League group games featuring British teams on Wednesday night, including Barcelona’s visit to Celtic Park.

Barcelona won the reverse fixture at the Nou Camp 7-0 back in September, which included a Lionel Messi hat-trick, and everything suggests another comfortable win.

Indeed, Celtic are as big as 11/1 with Bet365 to win on Wednesday night, with the draw available at 21/4 with BetVictor and Barca no bigger than 3/10 with Sky Bet.

However, we do at least fancy Celtic to score – remember they put 3 past Man City here last month – and suggest backing Both Teams To Score at 10/11 with Bet365.

We also recommend backing Over 2.5 Goals at best odds of 1/2 with Sky Bet – as even if Celtic don’t score, it seems unlikely that Barca won’t score at least three.

Messi missed Barca’s last league game with illness and so we prefer Luis Suarez as First Goalscorer – he’s already scored 11 goals this season and is 10/3 with Betfred.

We also like the stand-out odds of 14/1 with Betfair for the Uruguayan to score a hat-trick – indeed he is as short as 6/1 with Paddy Power in this market.

Finally, let’s play a couple of high scoring Correct Scores – we like Barcelona to win 4-1 and 5-1 at best odds of 16/1 and 30/1 respectively.

Arsenal v PSG     BT Sport Europe

With both teams assured of qualification, this game will likely determine who goes through as winners of Group A, with both sides on 10 points from their four games.

They drew the reverse fixture 1-1 in Paris, with Alexis Sanchez salvaging a point after Edinson Cavani opened the scoring after just 42 seconds at the Parc des Princes.

As far as this match is concerned it’s Arsenal who are favourites to win at best odds of 11/8 with BetVictor, with PSG available at 12/5 and the draw 5/2 – both at Bet365.

But PSG should have won that game back in September, with Cavani particularly wasteful despite that early goal – and we can see them going close at the Emirates.

They have also now won 8 of their last 9 games and we suggest backing the visitors in the Draw No Bet market at the best odds of 5/4 with BetVictor or Paddy Power.

Cavani looks the main man in the Goalscorer markets – the Uruguayan has scored 15 goals in 15 games this season, including in 3 of PSG’s 4 group games so far.

Our advice is to back him at a stand-out 8/5 with Betfair in the Anytime Goalscorer market, in which they also offer appealing best odds of 19/10 on Sanchez.

City have beaten Monchengladbach in each of their three previous meeting over the last two seasons, in which City scored four goals on two occasions.

Pep Guardiola’s side won the reverse fixture 4-0 in September and also beat Barca 3-1 at the beginning of this month, while Borussia drew 1-1 at home with Celtic.

Indeed, the German side are in terrrible form, with no wins in the Bundesliga since September (D2, L4) and so it’s no surprise that City are odds-on favourites here.

But our first recommended bet is on Over 2.5 Goals at 8/15 with Bet365 – as goals look certain at Borussia-Park, where City won 2-1 last season.

All things considered we think odds of 4/5 on City are worth taking, but also suggest the 2-0 and 3-0 away wins at best odds of 21/2 and 16/1 respectively at BetVictor.

You may have noticed that all our Goalscorer tips today are South American’s and we’ll round that off with Sergio Aguero to score first at 7/2 and score twice at 19/5.

The Argentinian scored a hat-trick against Monchengladbach in September and if you fancy him to do that again, head to William Hill who offer a stand-out 18/1.
