Eddie Pepperell will go into the closing weeks of the European Tour season in high spirits after claiming his second victory of the year at the Sky Sports British Masters.
The Englishman, who won the Qatar Masters in February, held his nerve in blustery conditions on Sunday to win by two shots and land pre-tournament odds of 28/1 for his followers.
His nine-under par winning total included a remarkable hole-in-one during Thursday’s opening round, when his ball struck the flagstick and bounced away from the hole before spinning back into the cup.
Pepperell arrived in Walton Heath in fine fettle, having finished in the top 10 on five of his last eight starts, finishing as runner-up at both the Scottish Open and the Portugal Masters.
He looks certain to be among the leading contenders as the Race to Dubai reaches its conclusion over the next five weeks. Meanwhile, our 50/1 selection Lucas Herbert finished in a share of third place after rounds of 67 and 69 over the weekend.
