Mark Allen is a 28/1 chance with Bet365 to win snooker’s World Championship after holding off the challenge of Kyren Wilson to win the biggest victory of his career at The Masters on Sunday.
Allen, who had reached the final at only one ranking tournament this season, won 10-7 at Alexandra Palace to win a ‘Triple Crown’ event for the first time, adding to his two World Open titles and his 2015/16 Players Championship success.
Between 2009 and 2011 Allen reached a semi-final and two quarter-finals at the World Championship, but he has since struggled in Sheffield, failing to go beyond the second round in his last six visits. Nevertheless, this will be a timely confidence boost for the 31-year-old Northern Irishman.
Wilson, who has been a quarter-finalist at The Crucible in each of the last two years, demonstrated his superb potting range in Sunday’s final and will be a danger in Sheffield in the spring. He’s a 33/1 chance with Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and Coral.
