Stan James are offering the best odds of 5/2 that Australia will go on to complete an Ashes whitewash after they secured a comfortable victory in the second Test in Adelaide last week.
The Aussies snuffed out any hope of a sensational England fightback with a flurry of wickets on the final morning to win by 120 runs, following up their 10-wicket success in the first Test at the Gabba. The third Test begins at the WACA in Perth on Thursday and England must find some improvement in all departments if they are to avoid another defeat – which would see them lose the five Test Ashes series before Christmas.
Joe Root’s side have failed to take 20 wickets in either of the first two matches and have scored a combined total of just 957 runs, with their first innings score of 302 in the opening game in Brisbane comfortably their best. To underline their batting problems, they have yet to score a century and Root is the only man in four innings to go beyond 50 twice. Concerns in the bowling department centre on spinner Moeen Ali, who has taken only two wickets over the two matches so far and is playing with an injured finger. Australia are 8/15 to make it three wins from three in Perth, with a troubled England side 7/2 across the board.
