After victory in the opening Test in Brisbane, Australia have been cut to 1/5 across the board to win the five-match Ashes series.
Australia were protecting a long unbeaten record at the Gabba and were strongly fancied to win there, but the way they cut through an inexperienced England batting line-up, particularly in their second innings, will give them great confidence for the remaining matches. Meanwhile, having already been forced to leave Ben Stokes at home following a nightclub incident, England have another problem on their hands after confirming they are investigating reports that wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow ‘head-butted’ Australia’s Cameron Bancroft during a night out at the start of the tour. As England know from bitter, and recent, experience it doesn’t take much for a tour to descend into chaos and they will be anxious to get things back on a sure-footing before the second Test, which begins in Adelaide on Thursday. They were trounced 5-0 the last time they visited Australia, and they are now just 11/2 with Bet365 and Betfred to suffer the same fate again.
