Paul Casey maintained his fine run of form ahead of next month’s Masters by successfully defending his title at the Valspar Championship.
The Englishman held on to win by one shot despite shooting a one-over-par final round of 72, to pip Louis Oosthuizen and Jason Kokrak.
It was his first win since the same event last year, but recent results have been promising with three top three finishes in his previous five starts.
Casey has a fine recent record at Augusta, posting results of 6-4-6-15 over the last four years, and his odds for the 2019 edition have been cut across the board over the weekend. Bet365 offer the best price of 33/1*.
Dustin Johnson’s odds have also been cut, although his challenge faded at the Valspar on Sunday as he shot a closing round of 74 to finish in a share of sixth place.
Casey’s win on Sunday is the third consecutive victory by Europe’s victorious Ryder Cup team players on the PGA Tour, following victories by Francesco Molinari (Arnold Palmer Invitational) and Rory McIlroy (The Players Championship) earlier this month.
