We preview the second leg of both Champions League semi finals this week and anticipate an avalanche of goals in Munich, but a much tighter affair in Madrid.

Tuesday 12th May / 7.45pm
Bayern have a mountain to climb at thein Munich to reach the Champions League Final, given they are 3-0 down from an ultra-disappointing first leg at the Nou Camp – despite the game being 0-0 until well into the second half.
Bet365 offer odds of 20/1 on Pep Guardiola’s side progressing to the final and to do so they will need to score at least three goals without reply. Of course, they needed to overturn a two goal deficit at home to beat Porto in the Quarter Finals, having lost the away leg 3-1, and won 6-1 with a devastating five goal first-half performance. Remember also, Bayern beat Barca 4-0 here in the semi-final first leg last season.
No doubt they will come out firing again on Tuesday and a bet on them to win at odds of 13/8 with William Hill looks reasonable, but the best bet has to be on ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ at stand-out odds of 4/6 with Sky Bet. Bayern have scored 30 Champions League goals this season – more than any other team, while Barca are next with 26.
In fact, given that Bayern have to go all out for a big win, we also suggest bets on ‘Over 3.5 Goals’ at 17/10 and ‘Over 4.5 Goals’ at 4/1 – both with BetVictor, while if you really fancy a goal bonanza you can get 10/1 with Coral on ‘Over 5.5 Goals’.
Lionel Messi is 1/2 to end the tournament as the top goal scorer following his brace in the first leg, and he is a best price of 19/4 with Stan James to score the first goal in this match. But a better bet may be on the home team’s Thomas Muller who has already scored six Champions League goals this season, the second-highest scorer at the World Cup represents good each-way value at 6/1 with Bet365.
Real Madrid v Juventus
|Under 2.5||Total Goals||4/6||Sky Bet|
|Carlos Tevez (ew)||First Goalscorer||8/1||Paddy Power|
|Cristiano Ronaldo||First Goalscorer||10/3||Ladbrokes|
|Cristiano Ronaldo||Anytime Goalscorer||28/29||Unibet|
|Real Madrid 1-0||Correct Score||13/2||Betfred|
|Juventus 1-0||Correct Score||14/1||Betfred|
Wednesday 13th May / 7.45pm
Real Madrid take on Juventus in an interesting second leg encounter at the Bernabeu with the semi-final finely balanced with Juve having won the first leg 2-1.
Despite that deficit, the reigning champions are still favourites to reach another final, at best odds of 4/5 with Bet365 and Ladbrokes, while Juve can be backed 11/10 (Coral, William Hill, Paddy Power) to reach their first final since 1996.
As for the match itself, Real are available at 4/6 (generally) to win, while Juventus can be backed at best odds of 19/4 and the draw at 10/3 – both with Bet365.
With so much at stake and the visitors likely to attempt to sit on their lead, we can see this game being very cagey and recommend that you back ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ at evens with Bet365. Remember, a 1-0 home win would be enough for Real Madrid.
Given that Juve will play a tight five across midfield with Carlos Tevez up front, the 8/1 on the Argentinean to score the first goal with Paddy Power appeals each-way (Paddy Power pay 1/3 odds for the ‘place’ in this market – if your player scores any of the first 5 goals). Tevez already has 7 Champions League goals this season.
We also have to suggest a wager on Cristiano Ronaldo (9 goals this season) to score first at the best available price – and that’s 10/3 with Ladbrokes, while a bet on him to score at any time at best odds of 28/29 with Unibet is also suggested.
Finally, we also recommend backing a couple of Correct Scores with Betfred, with that offer to refund losing stakes should the game finish 1-1. Back the 1-0 Juventus win at 14/1 and the 1-0 Real Madrid win at 13/2.
