Manchester City are the 7/2 favourites with Betfair to win the Champions League ahead of the resumption of the tournament this week, when they visit Swiss champions FC Basel in the Last 16. Pep Guardiola’s side, who last week extended their breathing space at the top of the Premier League to a mammoth 16 points, were treated kindly by the draw, although they will be wary of opponents who beat Manchester United 1-0 at home in the group stage.
Basel have won their domestic league in each of the last eight seasons, but they have been weakened by the sale of two of their better players in the winter transfer window and are hampered by the fact that they have only been back in action for a week after their winter break.
Paris St Germain, who visit Real Madrid on Wednesday, are 5/1 second favourites, with a resurgent Bayern Munich at 11/2 with Paddy Power and BetVictor. The German champions play their first leg against Besiktas on Tuesday 20th. Tottenham will be boosted by their excellent recent league form ahead of their tie against Juventus, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side at 25/1 with most firms to go all the way.
