Cardiff and Huddersfield remain the firm favourites to be relegated from the Premier League after failing to win any of their first five games of the season.
However, it is Burnley who are propping up the table after taking just one point from their first five games.
The Clarets excelled last season, performing well beyond expectations to qualify for Europe, and they were pre-occupied with their bid to make it through to the group stages of the Europa League at the start of the season.
Yet they had no such excuse for another tepid performance in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Wolves, when they could easily have lost by a much bigger margin.
Burnley face Bournemouth at Turf Moor next weekend, before back-to-back games against Cardiff and Huddersfield.
Also looking vulnerable are Newcastle, who like Burnley have taken just a single point so far. A tough fixture list hasn’t helped, with Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal all taking maximum points at St James’ Park and a visit to Manchester City already out of the way.
Newcastle grew stronger as last season went on and they will need to do the same this term. They can be backed at 7/2* for the drop with Bet365.
