With most of the teams expected to struggle this season losing on the opening weekend there have been few changes in the Premier League relegation betting market, with favourites Cardiff now 8/13* to go straight back down to the Championship.
One of the weekend’s more notable results came at Craven Cottage, where newly-promoted Fulham were beaten 2-0 by Crystal Palace. There were no new signings in Palace’s starting line-up as they picked up the impressive form they were showing at the end of the last campaign.
Roy Hodgson’s side lost only once in eight matches at the end of last season, remaining unbeaten in the final six, and they extended their unbeaten run to seven matches thanks to a goal in either half from Jeffrey Schlupp and their star man Wilfried Zaha. The Eagles lost each of their first seven games last season, but finished so strongly that they almost claimed a top half finish, losing out on goal difference to Newcastle. They were 9/4 at the start of the summer to earn a top 10 spot this time around, but are in to a generous 9/5* with Ladbrokes and Coral after putting three points on the board on Saturday.
