Derby Well Backed Under Lampard

The domestic football season in England kicks off on Friday night, as Derby visit Reading in the Sky Bet Championship for what will be Frank Lampard’s first official match in management. After one of the most successful playing careers in the Premier League era, it’s no surprise that Lampard’s first game as a coach has been picked for broadcast by Sky Sports and viewers can expect to see plenty more of the Rams over the course of the season.

Derby have been popular with punters in the ante-post betting, with Lampard using his contacts to bring in some youthful attacking talent on loan. The 19-year-old midfielder Mason Mount has joined on loan from Lampard’s old club Chelsea, while Harry Wilson has arrived on a similar deal from Liverpool.

Derby have also signed the winger Florian Jozefzoon, who impressed in the Championship with Brentford, and last season’s League One top scorer Jack Marriott, who has moved to Pride Park from Peterborough. In a competitive section, in which the relegated trio of Stoke, West Brom and Swansea are all fancied to go well together with the likes of Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest, Derby are 14/1* to win the title with BetVictor – who also offer 5/1* for them to be promoted.
