Novak Djokovic is the new second favourite for next month’s Wimbledon men’s title despite losing to Marin Cilic in Sunday’s final at Queen’s. It has been a difficult year for Djokovic, who has failed to make it beyond the last eight at the first two Grand Slams of the year, but his run to the final provided glimpses of the form that has brought him three Wimbledon titles.
The Serb has been cut from 7/1 to a best price of 5/1 with Ladbrokes and BetVictor, after his strong performance was coupled with a rare defeat on grass for the defending Wimbledon champion Roger Federer. The Swiss star was beaten in three sets by the 21-year-old Croatian Borna Coric in the final of the Halle Open, an event he was bidding to win for the 10th time in his career. Bet365, Ladbrokes and Coral have pushed Federer out to 7/4 to win a ninth Wimbledon title, while Cilic, the man he defeated in last year’s final, has been cut to a best price of 8/1 with Betfred. Coric’s price is also on the move, in from a best of 150/1 with Bet365 to 66/1 with Betfred.
