Liverpool will face a familiar foe in the Champions League semi-finals as Edin Dzeko spearheads Roma’s bid to reach a first European final since the 1991 Uefa Cup final. Roma lost 2-1 on aggregate to Inter Milan on that occasion, while they were beaten by Liverpool on penalties in the Stadio Olimpico in the 1984 European Cup final.
Dzeko scored in both legs as the Italians stunned Barcelona by recovering from three goals down to win on away goals in the quarter-finals, with his opener in the second leg taking his tally for the season to 22 in all competitions. Assisted by the wing-play of Mohamed Salah, the Bosnian striker helped himself to 39 goals last season, while he scored twice at Anfield during his time in England with Manchester City.
He scored twice against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the group stage of this season’s competition and is Roma’s best hope for an away goal on Tuesday. He’s a best price of 2/1 with both Betfred and Paddy Power to score at Anfield again.
