New Arsenal manager Unai Emery can look forward to an immediate test after the Premier League revealed the fixtures for the new season, with the Gunners set to host Manchester City on the weekend of Saturday 11th August.
Emery, who left Paris St Germain at the end of last season, has replaced Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium after the Frenchman’s 22-year spell at the club came to an end in May. Having led Sevilla to three successive Europa League victories, Emery brings a certain pedigree to the job, but he has a poor record in his 10 previous meetings with Pep Guardiola, drawing four and losing six.
City scored three times in each of their three wins over Arsenal last season, conceding only once, underlining the gulf that has emerged between the two clubs over the past few seasons. Ladbrokes make Arsenal a 3/1 chance to start the campaign with a win, while City are 20/1 with Bet365 to win 3-0, having recorded back-to-back 3-0 victories over the Londoners in the spring.
