England 8/11 After Dublin Victory

England are the new odds-on favourites to win rugby union’s Six Nations Championship after opening their campaign with a surprise win over Ireland.

Eddie Jones’ side were as big as 3/1 with Ladbrokes to win in Dublin on Saturday, but produced a wonderful performance in both defence and attack to run out 32-20 winners.

England had been 4/1 chances to win the championship prior to Saturday evening’s game, but are now no bigger than the 8/11* on offer with Bet365, William Hill and Betfred.

Wales got their series off to a flying start by coming from behind to beat France 24-19 in Paris on Friday night and they are now the second favourites to win the title, at best odds of 11/4* with Ladbrokes.

Scotland were the other winners on the opening weekend, beating Italy 33-20 at Murrayfield. The Scots are available at 12/1* with Coral in the title betting, with ante-post favourites Ireland, the defending champions, now 13/2 with Paddy Power.

Next weekend’s second round of fixtures sees Ireland visit Scotland and Italy host Wales on Saturday, before England welcome France to Twickenham on Sunday.

England, meanwhile, have also been trimmed from a best price of 7/1 to 6/1 with Paddy Power and Betfred to win the World Cup this autumn.
