England Rocked By Fourth Straight Defeat

England’s rugby union players will be hoping for better luck next weekend in Bloemfontein after suffering their fourth straight Test defeat against South Africa at Ellis Park on Saturday. The Springboks edged a 10-try thriller to win 42-39 in Johannesburg and they are a best price of 8/13 with Ladbrokes and Coral to wrap up victory in the three-match series when the two sides meet again.

England’s year had begun with such promise after a lengthy winning run under Eddie Jones, but with the World Cup in Japan a little over a year away they will be keen to restore their ailing confidence as quickly as possible.

Looking ahead, England have drifted out to 7/1 with Paddy Power in the World Cup betting, having been a 7/2 chance at the turn of the year. Also in action on Saturday are Ireland, who lost 18-9 to Australia in their first Test on Saturday despite the Six Nations champions having started as favourites. The day’s action begins in Wellington, where world champions New Zealand host France having thrashed them 52-11 in the series opener. All three matches can be seen live on Sky Sports.
