Boxing fans will have to wait for the proposed rematch between David Haye and Tony Bellew – after Haye suffered a torn bicep in a training accident, causing the December bout to be postponed until March at the earliest.
However, a date has been set for George Groves’ WBA super-middleweight title defence against fellow Brit Chris Eubank Jr, with the pair now scheduled to meet at the Manchester Arena on February 17 in their World Boxing Super Series semi-final. Eubank, who beat Turkey’s Anvi Yildirim to set up his clash with Groves, is the 8/11 favourite with Coral to take the Londoner’s title, at the same venue where Groves lost to Carl Froch back in 2013.
Groves and Eubank are a match in terms of age, height and reach, while they have both recorded 20 career wins by knockout. Eubank, however, has suffered only one defeat in his 27 fights compared to three in 30 for Groves. Paddy Power are offering the best odds of 6/5 that Groves successfully defends his title.
