Roger Federer is on the brink of another milestone in his remarkable career after winning the Swiss Indoors title for the ninth time with a straight sets win over Marius Copil.
The 37-year-old’s success in his home town of Basel was his 99th tournament win and sets him up perfectly for a tilt at the ATP World Tour finals at the 02 Arena in a fortnight.
Federer has won the season-ending championship six times, although his most recent success came in 2011. He has lost to Novak Djokovic on each of the last two occasions he has reached the final.
Djokovic, who won four years running between 2012 and 2015 but has not won since, remains the 8/11* favourite with Paddy Power to win this year’s tournament.
Federer is second in the betting at 11/4* with BetVictor, with Rafael Nadal priced at best odds of 7/1* with the same bookmaker.
