Roger Federer is now a best price of 15/8 with Betfred for the forthcoming Australian Open after Andy Murray’s decision to withdraw from the first Grand Slam of 2018. Murray, who has not played since Wimbledon last summer, may have to undergo surgery after conceding that his longstanding hip problem has not healed sufficiently for him to get back onto the court.
Federer, who won the title last year, has been cut from 5/2 prior to Murray’s withdrawal, while the 2017 runner-up Rafael Nadal is now the 5/1 second favourite with Coral. Novak Djokovic, who has injury concerns of his own, is an 11/2 chance with the same firm, with Grigor Dimitrov and Alexander Zverev leading the rest of the field, each at 10/1.
