The Championship promises to be hugely competitive in the upcoming season and it’s hard to pick out the strongest team from a section featuring Stoke, West Brom, Middlesbrough, Swansea and Leeds. They are among the biggest clubs in the division, with the relegated duo of Stoke and West Brom the market leaders with the bookmakers. The biggest movers of the summer, however, are Nottingham Forest, who opened at 33/1 to win the title with Ladbrokes at the end of May, but have been backed in all the way to a best price of 11/1* with Bet365 after a busy transfer window.
Forest, who were taken over by the Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis in May 2017 after a period of instability under their previous owners, appointed Aitor Karanka as manager in January and although results remained poor through to the end of the season they have given him their backing over the summer. The former Middlesbrough boss will hope the young Portuguese duo of Joao Carvalho of Diogo Goncalves can have the same sort of impact at the City Ground that Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota had at Wolves last season, while Lewis Grabban will add much-needed firepower after his move from Bournemouth. Forest also have a new goalkeeper in Costel Pantilimon, while Michael Dawson has returned to the club 13 years after leaving for Tottenham.
