Norwich and Sheffield United took full advantage of Leeds United’s inactivity over the weekend as both teams recorded 4-0 victories to storm into the top two in the Championship.
Norwich top the table after Teemu Pukki scored his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season as they thumped struggling Bolton 4-0, although the Canaries missed from the penalty spot for the sixth time in seven attempts this season.
Sheffield United have moved above Leeds into second place on goal difference after thrashing Reading.
Blades boss Chris Wilder caused a stir by resting 22-goal leading scorer Billy Sharp, but that was quickly forgotten when Kieron Freeman swept them into the lead inside the first minute. January signing Gary Madine added two more before half time.
Leeds now sit third, although they have a game in hand on the top two and a four-point advantage over West Brom in fourth.
It is Marcelo Bielsa’s side who continue to be favourites to win the title with most bookmakers. They are at 7/4* with Bet365, with Norwich at the same price with Bet365. Sheffield United are at 4/1* across the board, with West Brom now at 8/1*.
