Lewis Hamilton is the odds-on favourite once again to win the Formula One Drivers Championship after leading a Mercedes one-two at the Spanish Grand Prix. The reigning world champion dominated in Catalunya as he won his second successive race to open up a 17-point lead over his chief title rival Sebastian Vettel, who slipped from second place to fourth after some questionable tactical calls from his team. Both men have won two of the opening five Grand Prix, with Vettel a further 20 points clear of Hamilton’s team-mate Valtteri Bottas, who took second place ahead of Max Verstappen in third.
Vettel’s Ferrari had appeared to be the fastest car in the early weeks of the season, but although Hamilton was fortunate to win in Azerbaijan a fortnight ago he was the dominant force across the weekend this time around. William Hill price Hamilton at 8/13 to go on and claim his fifth world title, while Vettel is out to a best price of 2/1 with Paddy Power.
