Hamilton Cut After Mercedes One-Two

Lewis Hamilton has been cut to win the Formula One World Drivers Championship despite finishing second to team-mate Valtteri Bottas at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

The world champion was available at 6/4 in the title betting after Ferrari impressed in winter testing, but the Italian team endured a difficult weekend in Melbourne and Sebastian Vettel was beaten to third by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

A sluggish start from pole by Hamilton enabled Bottas to take control of the race and the Finn even managed to gain the new bonus point for setting the fastest lap time.

However, the bookmakers expect Hamilton to reassert his authority in the coming weeks and he is now a best price Evens* with Paddy Power.

Vettel has been pushed out to 10/3* with William Hill and Bottas has been cut to best odds of 6/1* with Bet365 and Betfred.
