Lewis Hamilton leads the F1 Drivers Championship by 14 points from Sebastian Vettel after Daniel Ricciardo drove a superb race to claim victory at Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix.
The Australian driver, who took pole position for Red Bull in Saturday’s qualifying session, led from the front but suffered a loss of power when only a third of the race had elapsed. However, he drove brilliantly to fend off Vettel’s challenge for the remaining 59 laps, with Hamilton finishing in third place in his Mercedes.
Ricciardo, who won the Chinese Grand Prix earlier in the season, is a further 24 points back in the standings. Despite setting the fastest lap time in three of the opening six races of the season, he has played down his chances of challenging for the title – for which he is currently a best price of 25/1 with Ladbrokes. Hamilton remains the odds-on favourite to win the title, at 1/2 with William Hill, with Vettel available at best odds of 2/1 with Bet365.
The next Grand Prix takes place in Montreal in Canada on June 10th.
