Tiger Woods is a best price of 20/1* with Ladbrokes for this week’s US PGA Championship after another promising, but ultimately frustrating, appearance at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. Although he is unlikely to ever hit the heights that saw him dominate the sport of golf for a decade or more, Woods has shown some sporadic good form since his latest return from injury and does appear to be getting stronger by the month.
Rounds of 66 and 68 on Thursday and Friday put him in contention for a remarkable ninth title at Firestone in Ohio, but his challenge hit the rocks on Saturday when he shot a three-over-par round of 73. The 42-year-old has finished 12th or better on six occasions in 2018, meaning he should start a major championship as a top 50 player for the first time since the PGA Championship at Valhalla four years ago.
He has four PGA titles to his name, the most recent of which came at Southern Hills in 2007. This year’s championship will be staged at the Bellerive Country Club for the first time since 1992, when South Africa’s Nick Price was the winner.
