Bookmakers are expecting a busy evening on Saturday as Manchester City’s return to Premier League action after a three-week break precedes Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight title fight against Joseph Parker. WBA and IBF champion Joshua is a firm favourite to defeat WBO title holder Parker at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, with the Londoner a best price of just 1/8 with William Hill to claim the 21st victory of an undefeated professional career and set up a unification bout with Deontay Wilder for later in the year.
No fighter has ever taken Joshua the distance and only his two most recent opponents, Wladimir Klitschko and Carlos Takam, have kept him in the ring for more than seven rounds, with Joshua winning those fights in the 11th and 10th rounds respectively.
He’s 2/7 with Bet365 to win by KO or TKO once more while Ladbrokes are offering 4/1 that Joshua will win between rounds nine and 12. Looking further ahead, Joshua is a best price of 4/9 to go on and defeat Wilder in 2018, while Ladbrokes, Betfred and BetVictor all quote him as the 7/2 favourite to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award after he surprisingly missed out in 2017.
