Harry Kane has been drawing comparisons to Ronaldo and Messi after outscoring the world’s two leading superstars in 2017, with the Spurs striker ending his year with a hat-trick against Southampton to take his tally to 56 goals in all competitions for club/country.
Kane surpassed Alan Shearer’s record for the highest number of Premier League goals in a calendar year with his first goal against the Saints, before becoming the leading scorer in Europe’s top five leagues with his 2nd.
His golden year featuring eight hat-tricks, including four goals in the 6-1 rout of Leicester in May, and a further 10 doubles – with 7 of his goals coming for England.
Kane will spearhead England’s bid for glory at this summer’s World Cup in Russia and will fancy his chances of making an impact in the group stage, when Gareth Southgate’s side take on Tunisia, Panama and Belgium.
